  OXIDATION CHARACTERISTICS OF LUBRICATING OIL
  STANDARDS: ASTM 2440 - IP 48, DIN 51 352

These standards describe a method for the determination of tendency of lubricating oil to deteriorate on oxidation under specified conditions.

The sample is subjected to severe oxidation by heating at 200°C along with passing air through it at 15 Ltr / hr for 2 x 6 hours. After standing 15-30 hours, Kinematic viscosity & Ramsbottom carbon residue is determined of the oxidized oil.

This is a 8 tubes assembly. The apparatus is table top model, of rugged construction.

  Apparatus Consists of:

Heating bath 35 liters floor mounted stainless steel oil bath capable of withstanding temperature upto 250°C, It is thermostatically controlled
Oxidation tubes Set of 8 number borosilicate glass oxidation tubes
Absorption tubes Set of 8 number tubes
Air flow meters Eight number Air Rota-meters having range 15 Ltr /hr
Air supply assembly Consist of flow regulator, pressure gauge, safety valve, pressure tubing's etc
Control panel Consist of temperature indicator controller with digital display, timer, switches, relays etc
